Andante – Il Mio Percorso Musicale
(trans. Andante – My Musical Path)
“Andante” is a musical term meaning a tempo that is basically a walking pace. I adopted that as the name for my music writing years ago because I liked the idea of approaching music at a walking pace: not too fast (too technical) and not too slow (too basic) — enough to be engaging and active.
Over the years, I combined that “walking pace” idea with my love of travel and adventure writing to crystallize my approach to writing about music: writing about music the way one writes about the things they see on a walking tour — I highlight and share things I find when exploring that you, the reader, may not know about and may want to explore as well.
Like all good travel writing going back to Herodotus, this writing is based on first-hand, personal experience. It’s not autobiographical or confessional, but it is personal.
And so, Andante is me sharing my musical path (il mio percorso musicale) and the interesting things I find along the way. I hope you will join me and find it interesting, fun, and informative. And perhaps it will give you some pointers for your own journey.
